Posted on 10/07/2021

***MCAS results reports are being mailed to families by October 12, 2021.  The following is the letter that will accompany the MCAS student report.***

Dear Quincy Public Schools Parent and Guardians,

Last spring, Quincy Public School students in grades 3-8 participated in a modified MCAS assessment for English Language Arts and Mathematics and Grades 5 and 8 were also assessed in Science and Technology/Engineering.  Thanks to our principals and teaching staff, and you, their parents and guardians, our students were as prepared as possible for the assessment.  Students in all grades completed the MCAS test on computers, completing the transition from paper and pencil which has been in process for the last few years.  The scoring categories were updated in 2018 and are Exceeding Expectations, Meeting Expectations, Partially Meeting Expectations, and Not Meeting Expectations.

Spring 2021 MCAS results for Quincy Public Schools closely align with the results of school districts across Massachusetts and reflect the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on student learning and achievement.  Please keep in mind that MCAS results are only one measure of your student’s growth and achievement.  At your school’s upcoming parent conferences, you will have the opportunity to discuss your student’s complete overall academic and social/emotional growth and development with their teachers.
