Health Advisory
Posted on 02/04/2020

Dear Quincy Public Schools Staff, Students, and Families,

Please be aware that Quincy Public Schools administrative staff have been in close contact with City of Quincy Health Department Commissioner Ruth Jones and together we are monitoring the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019 nCoV) advisories from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). At this time, Massachusetts remains at a very low risk for the 2019 novel coronavirus and Quincy Public Schools continues to follow the recommendations provided by these agencies. If the CDC or the MDPH make a decision to put any restrictions in place as this situation evolves, Quincy Public Schools will update our response as needed.

I want to acknowledge that this is a stressful situation for many students and families with relatives and friends living in or near the affected communities in China. I hope we can all express our support and concern for our QPS students, families, and neighbors in the Quincy community and make an extra effort to be kind and positive in the coming days and weeks.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 617-984-8701, Health Services Coordinator Rita Bailey at 617-984-8899, or the Quincy Health Department at 617-376-1270.

Richard DeCristofaro, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
