Dear Quincy Public Schools Community,

I am writing to inform you of Quincy Public Schools' partnership with the Governor’s Office and the Massachusetts National Guard to provide additional bus driver support for our transportation program.  As part of this partnership, the Massachusetts National Guard will provide Quincy with six (6) National Guard personnel who will drive approximately three (3) bus routes for the district.  The vehicles being driven by the National Guard personnel will be Quincy Public Schools vehicles.   It is anticipated that this program will begin on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 and any students affected by this program have already been contacted by the Quincy Public Schools Transportation Department.

This additional bus driver support will assist in providing safe and efficient transportation to students who are eligible for district transportation.  It is important to note that the National Guard drivers will be in National Guard uniform.  However, they will not be armed in any way.  Each National Guard driver has been cleared by the state to work with students and each bus they drive will have a monitor on the bus for additional support.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns about this or any other student transportation issue, please do not hesitate to contact the Quincy Public Schools Transportation Office at 617-984-8897 or call my office directly at 617-984-8701.

In conclusion, I would like to thank the Governor’s Office and the Massachusetts National Guard for providing this important support to the Quincy Public Schools.

Sincerely,

Kevin W. Mulvey, J.D.

Superintendent
