9.10.2020 Message to HS Marching Band & Parents/Guardians
Posted on 09/10/2020

Dear Combined NQHS~QHS Marching Band Members, Parents, and Guardians:

I am writing to inform you that Quincy Public Schools was notified today that a High School Marching Band member tested positive for COVID-19 (the Coronavirus).  The last day the student attended band practice was September 1, 2020 and the student was not symptomatic.  Your student is not considered a close contact, which means they do not have to quarantine and they may continue to attend High School Marching Band Practice.  (A close contact is defined someone who has been within six feet of the positive individual for at least fifteen minutes while the person was infectious.  The infectious period begins two days prior to symptom onset.  If someone is asymptomatic, the infectious period is considered to begin two days prior to the collection of their positive test.)

All High School Marching Band members have been strictly following the recommended guidelines, including a practicing outside and maintaining eight yards of distance when playing their instruments.  Band instructors have ensured that students continue to wear masks and distance themselves at six feet before and after practicing their instruments.

All High School Marching Band Parents and Guardians are invited to attend a meeting tonight at 6:00 pm via Google Meet:  https://meet.google.com/fec-qgoy-yhx

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact call your student’s pediatrician, your school nurse, or Coordinator of Health Services Rita Bailey (617.984.8899).

Sincerely,

Erin Perkins

Acting Assistant Superintendent
