Welcome Letter from NQHS Principal

Welcome Letter from NQHS Principal
Posted on 08/13/2021

Dear North Quincy High School Staff, Students, Families, and Community members,

I want to take a moment and introduce myself to you as your new Principal here at North Quincy High School.  I am super excited to be a part of this family.  From the moment I decided to apply, I heard nothing but compliments from many people across the Commonwealth.  Some graduated from here, others either taught or coached here, and their sentiments were the same: “Keith, you are going to love it there!”  As I walked the halls and into the lobby, I was moved by the legacy of those who came before us to pave the way for this nation.  The quote inscribed in the lobby, “It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.” resonated with me because there are many people in our global history that created the opportunity we have today to come together. Many have sacrificed and died tragically, nevertheless it resulted in the rich fabric of our society which brings us here today.  There is a responsibility that we have to leave a legacy, make an impact, and become positive contributors to our community and beyond.  We will accomplish this by giving our best effort, whether a student in the building or a member of our staff, so that others that follow can be thankful that such people like you and me lived.

My role as your Principal will be to continue to foster positive relationships and encourage, strengthen, and build community for everyone who enters our building. Your opinion and voice matter and I want you to feel welcomed, respected, and valued.  We will reinforce a positive atmosphere that both encourages and challenges all students in order to prepare them to be impactful citizens to society.  I look forward to collaborating as a school community aligning our approach of captivating the hearts and minds of our young people to accomplish the goals they set for themselves.

I leave you with this: when I think about North Quincy High School, the words “uniquely” and “embrace” come to mind.  (Uniquely:  in a way that belongs or is connected to only one particular person or thing.  Embrace: to accept or support (a belief, theory, or change) willingly and enthusiastically.)  There are traditions and a sense of pride associated with North Quincy High School that are incredible and there are pedagogical steps we will take in order to accomplish our collective goal of maximizing our students’ full learning potential.

Our theme for the 2021-2022 school year is to Uniquely Embrace!  I look forward to meeting you soon.  Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.   Go Raiders!!

Sincerely,

Keith S. Ford

Principal, North Quincy High School
