Dear Quincy Public Schools Parents/Guardians,

In collaboration with the Quincy School Committee, Citywide Parent Council, the Quincy Parent Advisory Council for Special Education (QPAC), and the Quincy Education Association (QEA), Quincy Public Schools is seeking input regarding homework practices.  Surveys have been created to gather information from parents/guardians, students, and academic classroom teachers of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, Grades 3-12.

The parent survey was created to seek feedback on your experiences with homework at your student’s current grade level.  Parents with more than one student are encouraged to take the survey again so there is a response for each of your students.  The survey should take no more than ten minutes to complete.

Thank you in advance,

Superintendent Richard DeCristofaro

Open Enrollment Advisory ~ May 2019

May 012019

Quincy Public Schools is tracking enrollment projections, class sizes, and building capacities for the 2019-2020 school year.  QPS will issue periodic updates using a color code to indicate each school’s Open Enrollment status.

Red = Open Enrollment will be limited to siblings of students already enrolled in all grades.  Older siblings must be scheduled to attend the school for the 2019-2020 school year.  For example, a student currently in Grade 5 cannot be considered a sibling to an incoming Kindergarten student as they would not attend the school concurrently.

Yellow = Open Enrollment will be limited to siblings of students already enrolled in certain grades.  For example, a school may have seats available in Kindergarten, but not in another grade.

Green =  Open Enrollment is available at all grade levels.

For elementary schools, Beechwood Knoll, Bernazzani, Lincoln Hancock, Merrymount, and Montclair Elementary Schools will be limited to accepting sibling Open Enrollment requests at all grades. Parents who have requested non-sibling Open Enrollment to one of these schools should plan on having their students attend their home school.  Parents will be notified of Open Enrollment decisions by the end of June.

Current Open Enrollment status for all elementary schools is below:

Atherton Hough

Beechwood Knoll

Lincoln Hancock

Clifford Marshall

Snug Harbor

At the middle school level, Open Enrollment at Central Middle School will be limited to siblings only in all grades.  Parents will be notified of Open Enrollment decisions by the end of May.

Broad Meadows

Point Webster

For both North Quincy High School and Quincy High School, all Open Enrollment requests received to date have been granted and families have been notified via e-mail.

If you have questions about the Open Enrollment process or specific schools, please contact:  Maura Papile (617.984.8898), Rita Ranalli (617.984.8891), or Laura Owens (617.984.8702) or by email at openenrollment@quincypublicschools.com.

The Quincy School Committee has a policy of granting Open Enrollment on a space-available basis.  When making the decision to admit open enrollment students, the Superintendent must consider the capacity of the school building to accommodate Open Enrollment students both for the present school year and future years.   Click here to access the Open Enrollment link on the QPS website.
