I am pleased to let you know that I have appointed Margaret MacNeil as the new Principal of the Parker Elementary School. Margaret brings over 20 years of Quincy Public Schools experience to this new position, most recently as Principal of the Snug Harbor Community School for the last four years. Margaret’s leadership of the Snug Harbor Reset initiative led to impressive gains in student achievement and I look forward to her collaboration with the Parker Elementary staff in sustaining and expanding student achievement there. In addition, Margaret’s background in Special Education and management of the citywide CARES and LDC programs at Snug Harbor will be invaluable as the STARS program transitions to Parker for this school year.
I am also pleased to announce that I have appointed Michael Marani as Acting Principal of the Snug Harbor Community School. Mike has been Assistant Principal at Snug Harbor for four years and prior to that, was a Math Teacher at Point Webster Middle School. In addition, Mike has been the citywide Extended Day Program Coordinator, working with principals and assistant principals on summer programs and school year afternoon and weekend extracurricular programming. Mike’s mathematics background was instrumental in the success of the Reset initiative at Snug Harbor and his leadership will continue the collaboration with Snug Harbor staff on providing differentiated educational opportunities for all students.
Superintendent Richard DeCristofaro, Ed.D.
