Quincy Public Schools is tracking enrollment projections, class sizes, and building capacities for the 2016-2017 school year.  QPS will issue periodic updates using a color code to indicate each school’s Open Enrollment status.

Red = Open Enrollment will be limited to siblings of students already enrolled for 2016-20176 in all grades

Yellow = Open Enrollment will be limited to siblings of students already enrolled for 2016-2017  in certain grades

Green =  Open Enrollment will not be limited to siblings

For elementary schools, Beechwood Knoll, Lincoln Hancock, Clifford Marshall, and Merrymount Elementary Schools will be limited to accepting sibling Open Enrollment requests at most grades.   Parents who have requested non-sibling Open Enrollment to one of these schools should plan on having their students attend their home school.  Parents will be notified of Open Enrollment decisions by the end of June.

At the middle school level, Open Enrollment at Atlantic and Central Middle School will be limited to siblings only in all grades.   Parents will be notified of Open Enrollment decisions by the end of June.

For both North Quincy High School and Quincy High School, all Open Enrollment requests are being reviewed and letters will be mailed by March 11.

The Quincy School Committee has a policy of granting Open Enrollment on a space-available basis.  When making the decision to admit open enrollment students, the Superintendent must consider the capacity of the school building to accommodate Open Enrollment students both for the present school year and future years.   Click here to access the Open Enrollment link on the QPS website.

New PSAT & SAT Information

In collaboration with the College Board Testing Service, Quincy Public Schools recently offered a Parent Academy on the newly-designed SAT.  Jenny Cavaccale of the College Board, Helena Skinner, North Quincy High School Guidance Chairperson and Paula McGeady, Quincy High School Guidance Chairperson presented, focusing on the changes in SAT format and content and sharing parent and student resources.

QPS Food Services Meal Payment Options

Quincy Public Schools has a computer-based Point of Sale System (POS) to installed in all school cafeterias and each student has an assigned identification (PIN) number to access their account.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to pre-pay money into their student(s) accounts in order to help move students quickly through the lunch line, giving them more time to enjoy their meal.  Prepayment can be made in any amount before school or at the breakfast/lunch period in the form of cash or checks.  Checks should be made payable to the QPS Food Service Department and include the student’s full name and classroom on the face of the check or envelope containing cash.

Quincy Public Schools is very fortunate to have over one hundred dedicated community business partners. One of those valuable partners is Brewster Ambulance Service. Along with our Health teachers and school nurses, Brewster will be sponsoring a very special Wellness initiative. During the months of January and February, eighth grade students will be learning more about heart health in their Health classes. The curriculum and supplemental materials will be in preparation for an opportunity to learn about Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) directly from licensed Brewster Ambulance Service staff. All of the curriculum materials and resources will be available to you by clicking on this link.

In addition, Brewster Ambulance Service is offering the opportunity for Grade 8 students and their parents/guardians to participate in a no-cost full CPR/AED certification class on Saturday, February 6 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm in the Central Middle School gymnasium. Information on registration will be sent home next week. Also, transportation will be provided to and from Atlantic, Point Webster, Sterling, and Broad Meadows Middle Schools.
