Dear Friends,

With the school year now behind us, I wanted to write a quick note to
personally wish you and your family a happy and safe summer.  It’s a
wonderful time of year of in Quincy, and I hope you are able to spend some
time relaxing with your friends and family.

It’s also a good time to offer my personal thanks to everyone at Quincy
Public Schools for a great year. From our staff, to classroom teachers, to
administrators to the Superintendent’s leadership team and my colleagues on
the School Committee, we are making great strides together as a community
and as a school system, which I truly believe is among the best in the
Commonwealth.

For generations of our young people, summer in Quincy means the programs of the Quincy Recreation Department and the Thomas Crane Public Library.  I
often hear from new parents and residents who have recently come to Quincy
amazed at the number and quality of summer programs run by “Quincy Rec” and the TCPL.  If you have not already, please check out the offerings by
calling Quincy Rec at 617-376-1394, visiting www.quincyrec.com, or by
visiting the library’s site at  http://thomascranelibrary.org.

I’d also ask you to save a special date for Sunday, September 14, when we
will be hosting a fun event for the entire family – the 1st Annual City of
Presidents 5K Run/Walk.  Please stay tuned for more details.

Again, please accept my warmest wishes for a wonderful summer, and as
always, do not hesitate to contact me directly if I can be of assistance in
any matter.

Thomas P. Koch
Mayor
