At a recent School Committee meeting, student athletes from the middle and high school levels were recognized for their outstanding achievement in Fall Athletics:
Middle School Cross-Country: Liana Cunningham, Broad Meadows, Girls City Champion; John Riley, Central, Boys City Champion and winner of 1st place in the Grade 7 division at the Massachusetts Middle School Invitational Cross-Country Championship.
North Quincy High School Cross-Country: The girls team won the Patriot League Fisher Division Championship, led by Boston Globe All Scholastic Emily Bryson and All-Stars Julia Bryson and Mike Mullaney; all three qualified for the All-State Championship and Emily finished in 4th place. NQHS Girls Cross-Country team members are: Grace Anderson, Marguerite Belcher, Julia Brady, Emily Bryson, Julia Bryson, Samin Charepoo, Keira Clifford, Samantha Feeney, Amelia Ho, Sinead Kelly, Emily Zheng.
Football: Quincy High School Captains Alex Alexandre, Matthew Hines (Boston Globe All-Star), Matt Kozlowski (Boston Globe All-Star) and James Lam and Jahvae Handsome-Fields (Boston Globe All-Stars).
North Quincy High School Captains Matt Donovan, Eddie Guinto, Don Sharp, Vinny Tran (Boston Globe All-Star) and Antoine Allen (Boston Globe All-Star)
Girls Volleyball: Quincy High School’s team qualified for the MIAA tournament and were represented by Captains Taylor Parry, Gabby Zorkers, Courtney Ryan (Boston Globe All-Star), Rachel Papile, and Boston Globe All-Stars Nicole Jorgensen and Emma Kelly. North Quincy High School’s team was Division 1 Central-East State Semi-Finalists and captained by Cindi Hazelton, Carolyn Schwartz (Boston Globe All-Star), and Maya Umoren(Boston Globe All-Star). Nancy Huang was also named a Boston Globe All-Star.
The School Committee also recognized NQHS Boys Basketball Coach Kevin Barrett who was named 2012-2013 Division 1 South Coach of the Year. Athletic Directors Michael Joyce and Patrick Lane were congratulated on an outstanding Fall season for middle and high school athletics.
