In conjunction with North Quincy High School Principal Robert Shaw and Quincy High School Principal Lawrence Taglieri, it is an honor to announce that Quincy Public Schools has appointed two new Athletic Directors for our high schools. These experienced educators will assume the Athletic Director responsibilities at their respective high schools in addition to teaching three sections in their subject area. They will also work together to facilitate athletics programs at the middle school level.
At North Quincy High School, Mr. Michael Joyce, an English teacher, Boys Lacrosse coach, and Site Supervisor for both Boys and Girls Basketball, has been appointed to the Athletic Director position. Mr. Joyce is a graduate of Stonehill College and Northeastern University.
At Quincy High School, Mr. Patrick Lane, a Math teacher and the Wrestling Coach since 2004, has been appointed to the Athletic Director position. Mr. Lane is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and Loyola University.
Through their roles as teachers and coaches, both Mr. Joyce and Mr. Lane have developed a rapport with students and staff throughout the high schools. During the selection process, where each Principal facilitated a site-based interview team that included retiring Athletic Director James Rendle, these two candidates were impressive in presenting their ideas for growing athletic participation, supporting student athletes, and working with coaching staff and parents. Mr. Shaw, Mr. Taglieri, and I are confident that these new Athletic Directors will be successful at working collaboratively to enhance athletic opportunities for all of our middle and high school students.Richard DeCristofaro, Ed.D.
