Thank you for your interest in the Advanced Placement Center (APC). To determine eligibility, Quincy Public Schools assesses students with the SAGES-2 (Screening Assessment for Gifted Elementary and Middle School Students) test. The SAGES-2 helps identify gifted students by measuring their aptitude and achievement. Aptitude is measured via the reasoning subtest. The other two subtests (language arts/social studies and mathematics/science) assess achievement.
The SAGES-2 will be administered to private school students on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 9:00 AM at Central Middle School, 1012 Hancock Street, Quincy. This assessment takes approximately ninety minutes to administer. Please call 617-984-8725 to confirm that your child will be tested. Students should be dropped off at 8:45 AM and picked up at 10:30 AM in Central’s main office. There is no need to study for this test.
To be considered for APC, parents/guardians of private school students must complete and provide the following:
- Student Referral for Screening form
- Standardized test scores (ex. Terra Nova)
- Recent report card
- SAGES-2 permission slip
You may mail these forms to Central Middle School, 1012 Hancock Street, Quincy MA 02169 Attention: Jennifer Fay-Beers, or send them with your child on February 28, 2012.
We are confident that this process will provide all qualified candidates an opportunity to participate in the screening process. Notification of acceptance into the program will be mailed during the week of April 21, 2012.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 617-984-8725 or via email, email@example.com. Thank you!
