Dear Parents and Guardians of Quincy Public Schools Students:
It is a pleasure and honor as Superintendent of the Quincy Public Schools to welcome you and your family to another school year.
After we congratulated our award-winning classes of 2011 upon their graduation, we quickly transitioned into a busy summer. Over 700 Quincy students participated in and enjoyed summer learning experiences. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children participated, as well as elementary, middle, and high-school students.
Our professional staff also used the summer break to enhance their teaching skills. Well over 200 Quincy Public Schools staff members participated in Professional Development programs.
As September approaches, our school system will be prepared for the 2011-2012 opening. The custodians will have our buildings in excellent shape and the maintenance staff has made repairs and renovations.
All of our Principals and their secretarial staff will be ready to assist and serve when they return to the school offices on Monday, August 29. The excellent professional staff of the Quincy Public Schools, whether academic classroom program, academic support, or student support services, are all excited about the challenges and are confident of a year filled with accomplishments.
In order that we attain our system goals and the goals for each and every one of our 9,300 students, we need your involvement. The most meaningful factor in assisting students to have a successful school experience is the concern, participation, and involvement of their parents.
Let me conclude by wishing you much joy and happiness in the last few days of summer vacation. Please never hesitate to call my office or your principal should you have any questions related to the opening of school.
Richard DeCristofaro, Ed.D.
