If your child is absent from school, please call Beechwood Knoll at 617-984-8781 prior to 8:30 a.m. If your child is absent and we have not heard from the parent/guardian, we will be calling you at home or at work. It is extremely important that our school records and contact card information be kept up-to-date. Please notify us of any changes in your child’s contact card information. A note regarding your child’s absences should be given to the classroom teacher when he/she returns to school, and an absence will be excused if a doctor’s note is submitted to the office.
Requests for early dismissal of students must be submitted in writing. Students will only be released to a parent, guardian or adult authorized by the parent. Parents are reminded to check in at the office and pick up a Visitor’s Badge when visiting Beechwood Knoll School. This regulation is required by School Committee and is part of the Massachusetts General Laws.
At the beginning of each school year, students will come home with a “Note from the Nurse” brochure. It is very important that you read this. It gives information regarding medication procedures, immunizations, excludable conditions, screenings and physical examinations.
It is VERY important to instruct students to use the crosswalks. Children should not arrive at school prior to 8:00 a.m. Parents, please observe the parking regulations and designated pick-up and drop-off areas to insure the safety and well-being of our students. Your cooperation is essential in following the established rules.
Notification of School Cancellations or Delayed Opening times will be announced via radio and television media, www.quincypublicschools.com, or on Instant Alert.
The Beechwood Knoll P.T.O. is a very active and supportive group of parents who work closely with teachers and administration to provide our students with the best quality education possible. The P.T.O encourages parent volunteers who have been fingerprinted and CORI’d to join in the many school initiatives that take place. The P.T.O. also sponsors activities to raise funds which support Beechwood Knoll School’s educational programs. You can find the PTO on Facebook at www.facebook.com/groups/BKSPTO.

Elementary School is an important first step in your child’s education. Quincy Public Schools are there from the first time your kindergartner picks out a book at the school library to the first grader having success in math to upper grades where students take their basis of knowledge and expand it to more advanced thinking.
At Beechwood Knoll, we strive to educate the whole child – mind, body and spirit. We know that different children learn in different ways – and that education does not take place just in the classroom. We offer numerous before and after-school enrichment programs. For a complete list of current programs, please call the main office 617-984-8781.
